Braun Series 7-790cc

Unbelievable electric razor. I received my razor this past Saturday, used it, and could not believe the shave—especially no burning of the neck. I used it again on Sunday, this time really going over the next area several times to see if I can experience the burning sensation once the water hit the neck area. Still no burning of the neck.

I have been using electric razors for the past 30 years, Braun and Norelco, and I buy a new model every two to three years; and I can honestly say the Braun Series 7- 790cc is definitely the best. I can vouch for all of the positive reviews and also–I usually never spend more than $175 for an electric razor. The reason I did it this time because I used Bill Me Later. Now, I am thinking if I didn't have the BillMeLater program, I would have missed out on a FANTASTIC electric razor.

This Braun shaver series seven, matches the claims made for its effectiveness. Having tried electric shavers in the past, this is the only one that cuts my beard with hairs growing in at a variety of angles in a smooth consistent way. Always before, I had to revert to my wet shave razor blade technology, but not this time. I needed an electric shaver due to broken bones in my right shoulder preventing me from using my right hand, and I am right handed. I could use this shaver with my left hand while my bones were healing, and much to my surprise I got a very close shave, with a minimum of razor burn. I plan to make this my permanent shaver and can eliminate the wet shave altogether except in an electrical blackout/emergency lasting several days.

Great Shaver-

This shaver is as close on most areas as when I use my Gillette Fusion Power (5 blades). There are a few areas on my neck that the hairs lay so close to the skin, it takes probably five strokes, or a twisting action to get it close. But, there is NO discomfort with the Braun Pulsonic as there is with a blade. Some people say the cleaning system is not as good as the razor, being expensive, noisy, etc. I agree that it is rather noisy, but if you think about the ease of use factor, it's not that expensive. The cleaning system cleans, lubricates, and dries the shaver, and very well at that. You don't have to worry about leaving it open to dry after rinsing it clean, or lubricating it once a week, since the water doesn't lubricate it. The solution has a semi-pleasant, citrus smell. The unit remembers how much it's been run since the last cleaning, and the base adjusts the cleaning cycle to that.

Pros:

close (let your face get used to it for a while before you judge)

cartridges of solution make for easy changing (no bottles to mess with)
base is reasonably sized, especially compared to a cleaning base for a rotary shaver, which doesn't heat dry it
has a lcd to remind you when to change the foil and cutter

Cons:
Cleaning cycles are reasonably noisy
cleaning cartridges represent additional expense (although only about $5.50 a cartridge, which should last almost two months if you clean every other shave, {get it down so there's two bars left in the hygiene meter, so it'll stay on the normal clean cycle.})

Final Thoughts:
I paid $130 two years ago for a self cleaning rotary shaver. this is not even twice the price, and is MUCH more than twice as good. I will never go back to a rotary. Reasonably priced, although it could be a little cheaper, maybe around $180 would be the price at which I wouldn't go with ANYTHING else.

My barber classifies me with a "monster beard" — very thick and grows quickly.

I've used a Norelco (3 types) for the bast 17 years. I always thought I had a good shave until I used this. Its is the closest shave I have every gotten!

With the Norelco, if I skipped a day, the next day I would need a weed wacker (or it felt like a weed wacker). With this Braun, I could skip a day and the next day wouldn't be too bad trying to shave.

Yes, it has a big footprint but I love the cleaning feature (works better than water — have to use the later when I travel).

the best gift!

my boyfriend has really sensitive skin so, every time he shaved, he would be left with a lot of irritation and bleeding at times. the hair on his face and neck also grow in different directions so he has to go over the same area more than once, increasing the irritaion. i love it when he is clean-shaven, but i wouldn't push him to shave because i know it's painful for him so… i began to look for an answer to those horrible razors he's been using and i came across this product. after reading that it won "best razor" of the year in multiple men's magazines, i bought it and HE LOVES IT! he shaves everyday because it doesn't hurt him at all. he's been using it for about 3 weeks now and, just last night, he was touching his face saying, "i can't believe how smooth it is. it's like i'm naked!" the only gripe i have with this product is that it's going to be virtually impossible to top such an amazing gift for his next birthday!

Great electric shaver

My skin very sensitive, I could not shave more than twice in week with normal razor. But with this razor I can shave daily. Initially I was reluctant for 9595, but after having it for one month, I think I can't shave without it. Shave is very closer to razor.

This is my 3rd Braun, last one broke after a few years, head came loose and I decided not to send it in for repair. While waiting for my new 9595 I used a 5 blade vibrating disposable with shaving gel so I have some recent experience to compare too. I have owned the new razor for just over a week. Before my Brauns I used several Norelco's. My dad is still a die hard Norelco man, but he hasn't tried my new Braun yet either

Speedwise the shave with a Braun 9595 is MUCH faster than the 7xxx series and works better when you have skipped a couple of days. On my 7xxx series if I had missed more than a couple days then I would go back to a blade. On the 9595 I have done 3 days no problem, but haven't tried longer yet. With the older Braun you either shaved or didn't, the first pass didn't come close to doing a good job vs with the new onea single pass isn't bad at all. The 9595 doesn't pull hair near as much as the old one when you have skipped a couple days. I really feel the 9595 is closer to a revolutionary upgrade than an evolutionary.

Compared to a blade (after have adjusted a bit since I used one for a few weeks) To me speed is about the same and the shave is about the same. If I was in a hurry, I could get a passable shave faster with the Braun and not go over everything a 3rd time for the comparable shave.

In summary, Love it!

used every brand ever marketed starting with Schick,Sunbeam,Remington,
Norelco,and finally Braun,(my last 4 shavers). This Pulsonic model is so
superior to all the others I can hardly believe it! It's a pleasure to

Braun Soundly Kicks Norelco's Hindquarters!

As a longtime Norelco user (the last a 9160XL), I finally grew tired of their product breaking like clockwork every two-plus years just after the warranty period had passed. Also, the frequent pinching & razor burn was getting me down. Time to switch. I remember many, many years ago when I was buying my first razor that I pined for a Braun, but lacked deep enough pockets to make up the difference (at that time) between the two. Times change and prices have balanced, but now the product differential is very significant! The Braun flat whoops Norelco!

I've had the Braun for about 6 or 8 weeks now, and must say that the shave is closer, it is quicker, and most amazingly to me, it is far more consistent than I ever experienced with Norelco. With the latter, I would always note that a random area of my face or neck would have been missed - not so with the Braun, as it gets all areas of my face and neck baby smooth. My young daughters have both commented on Daddy's face not being rough anymore. That in itself gets the Braun 5 stars!!! And whether or not the "Pulsonic" system is helping the shaver shave closer, I don't care, it just feels terrific on my face.

The cleaning system is great - yes it adds expense, but at the price point of the razor, I can afford it. And I have found that not having to deal with cleaning stubble out of the razor, and from the sink makes it worth every penny.

From a transparency standpoint, like every razor before, I did have an early learning curve to determine how to best shave with this new machine, which did result in a few early bouts of razor burn at points, but once I figured it out, it has been smooth sailing ever since!

Braun has won me over, and if they continue to deliver, I will never go back! Do yourself a favor, and pick up one of these for yourself, and anyone else you know who needs a razor. It rocks!

Best electric shaver I ever owned!, July 17, 2008

I have owned several electric shavers in the past and tried many. My past favorite was the Braun syncro shaver which I have owned for 14 years and it still works good. Recently, I decided to try several of the new rotary shavers and they were just OK. Next I read several reviews of the new Braun pulsonic 9595 and since I really like my sonic toothbrush, I decided to buy the Braun 9595 from Amazon when it was on sale. Wow! What a fast and smooth shaver! It is easily twice as fast and shaves very close for an electric shaver. I especially like the option to rinse it out in the sink when I travel. This shaver is a keeper! Best of the best.

An electric shaver that ACTUALLY shaves

I recently had heart valve replacement surgery and was placed on blood thinners. Because of this, my surgeon recommended switching to an electric razor as the normal nicks and cuts you get shaving with a regular razor would now be spurting crimson geysers. I was apprehensive about switching because I have an extremely thick beard; I had tried a Norelco wet/dry when I was in high school, and all it managed to do was comb my facial hair in a circular pattern and give me unholy razor rash on my neck.

After doing some research, I decided to give the Braun Pulsonic 9595 a try. I could not be more pleased with my purchase. I was able to shave my entire face and neck with no pulled hairs, no irritation, and best of all, it actually gave me a close shave.

Now, is it as close of a shave as a regular non-electric razor? No. However, it's close enough to fool most everyone; you can't really see stubble on your face, but you can feel a little if you run your hand over your skin. Let me put it this way - I would feel comfortable going on a job interview with the shave this razor gives me.

I highly recommend this razor for anyone in the market for an electric shaver.

Braun Pulsonic 9595

This razor does indeed give the closest most comfortable shave I've ever had from an electric razor. The cleaning system makes it easy to tell what condition the razor is in and what you need to do to maintain it.

Life changing

This is one of the best purchases of the year. My brother bought one and convinced me to give it a try too. I was a little skeptical at first, I've grown up with the norelco system (three round blades) and always felt that the bar shaped shavers were somehow inferior. Boy was I wrong. With the norelco (even with new blades) I always had to shave with the grain first and THEN, with gritted teeth, go against the grain. I STILL got reasonably bad razor burn and always felt I must have sensitive skin.

Now, with the braun, I go directly against the grain, right off the bat, and have had NO RAZOR BURN at all for the last couple of weeks. It's unbelievable, dramatic improvement.

Used to regular blades? Thick shave? No problem!

I've owned this product for almost a year, and before that I used another Braun with my brother (the alcohol cleaning let me not worry about sharing).

Before coming into the electric razors, I used to use typical straight blades. I had noticed that after a week, maybe a little more, the blade was useless. In addition, my skin is sensitive and I had a tendency to get a lot of ingrown hairs. The way I'd get the closest shave is to shave against the grain which needless to say, caused more ingrain hairs than I wanted. I became an expert with tweezers as a man to get rid of these, and I really felt there must be a better way.

The first electric I used was about a year and a half ago, and since my brother moved he took it with him and I replaced it with the Pulsonic. And regardless of whether it be the Pulsonic, or the older Braun Syncro (using the same cleaning system as the Pulsonic), I found a world of change in shaving.

My hair is thick and grows back reasonably fast. I shave every other day still, because I can get away with it. But coming from a regular razor, it took me about two weeks to get used to the electric. I forced myself to do it initially — I was tired of paying for the replacement blades for my Mach3. It was getting pretty expensive. However with the Bed Bath and Beyond 20% coupons, I got the refills for the shaver pretty cheap — and they lasted quite a while as well.

I have never enjoyed shaving, and even with the electric I don't. It takes a little more effort to get the hair that grows on your neck, since they grow in awkward directions (at least for me). I have to make several passes before I get them all. Additionally, I use my hand to make sure that the surface I've used the razor on is smooth, because often the razor can miss some hairs, and you need to go back over it. But despite those minor inconveniences, I am ecstatic about shaving with this over a regular blade. The only way I get a shave as close as the electric, is if I go against the grain with a regular blade. Yes folks — shaving with the electric gives me as close a shave as a normal razor.

I don't suffer any longer from red spots on my face, no more cuts, no more ingrown hairs. I wash my face after I shave with a gentle wash, and moisturize with a light moisturizer. My skin feels great. My family tells me it is soft to the touch. And this coming from a guy who was known to have a brillo pad for a face most of the time.

I'm very happy with the purchase. Over the Braun Syncro (older model), I'd say the Pulsonic is better but not amazingly better. It does a better job, gets less hot, and I like that I can plug it in directly as well if I need to. The cartridges are cheap on Amazon (get the 3 packs!), and if you want to make them last a little longer — clean the blade and shaver under some hot water and tap it out on your sink. It will work for two shaves without a problem. I took it on vacation for a week and just rinsed it — it worked fine throughout, though the "Hygiene" indicator dipped low. Came back home, threw it into the base and it went through an exhaustive cleaning process — and it was smelling fresh and new. I'm very, very pleased with it.

And for those trying to make the switch from conventional blades and don't like them — do it! This is a product worth buying.

Technology versus simplicity: technology wins–finally!

I've been using Norelco models, which include the 6885XL, for over 20 years. By and large, they were all very disappointing. By comparison, the Braun Pulsonic 9595CC with LCD is orders of magnitude better.

Shaving with 6885XL, I'd often end up with fair-sized sections of wholly uncut hair and of the hair it did cut, it wasn't terribly close. It almost looked as if I didn't shave!

The Braun just wipes my face with the Norelco, so to speak. It doesn't leave spots, period. And it's close across my entire face. So close, I just feel skin on my cheeks.

Yes, for the first time, I think I can say that electric shaving "is there". It's reached the point of doing the job it's set out to do.

I think one of the reasons why Norelco models fail so miserably is that while their lift and cut system was patented, what actually happens is that the metal foil over the razor mats some of the hair down and the blades never get to see it.

The Braun takes a different approach. The centerpiece vibrates like a little jack hammer and I'm surmising this causes the hairs to jump up tall, and the trailing half of the razor reaches them before they can bend back down. This means it does most of the work as opposed to the leading half (until you move in the other direction and their roles reverse). I don't know if this is true, but it's my guess behind the engineering logic. But I do know that it works!

The Braun also has another nice feature. The Norelcos store cut hair behind the foil assembly and it has to be emptied periodically. I do this over the toilet bowl and one time, the entire assembly fell into the toilet. You won't have to worry about the Braun doing that. It comes with its own razor-washing gizmo. I haven't had it long enough to know how it will work out long-term, but so far as I can tell, it completely cleans the razor out and it does this after every use, so long as you remember to put it back and press the clean button.

The only downside is that it's expensive and somewhat noisy. But it is so good otherwise, that this is almost nitpicking.

Basically, I'd say if ever other electric razor were to be discontinued tomorrow, I wouldn't care. The Braun 9595CC stands alone as the best electric razor in the industry.

Just Incredible!!! A Must Buy!

Ok here we go for my first and probably only review online. I am 50 years old and have tried pretty much every electric shaver known to mankind. Each time giving up due to the pinching non-close shave and pain in the butt cleaning. In the end, I was going back to razor blades and the frequent cuts. I went to Braun's website and read about this shaver and came to see the reviews here. I decided after reading the reviews to splurge on another electric shaver.

What a find! This in my humble opinion is the greatest invention EVER! It's the first electric razor I've used which doesn't get hot after a couple minutes of use. Hot razor means sweaty face which trips up razor and adds to pinching. Braun recommends you shave before you shower or wash your face, while you still have a little protective barrier of oil on your skin. A big no-no with regular shaving, this worked well with the Pulsonic. They also recommend you shave against the grain. Again, not recommended for regular shaving. For electric shaving, works great.

I must say I Absolutely LOVE shaving now. (I would let my beard grow for days because I HATED shaving with razors and cutting myself). The Pulsonic is the closest shave ever by an electric razor (IMHO shaves as close as a razor once you master it) and more importantly it does not pinch or burn at all. Even better is the self cleaning which make life easier.

My wife laughs every morning as she now sees me shaving daily with this god send! if you are reading bad reviews on this product it must be I just don't get it.

Bottom line: BUY THIS NOW! I just ordered another one for my son!
I am telling all who read this if you hate shaving GET THIS PRODUCT you will love it.

Great Razor!

The Braun pulsonic is fantastic! I have been another Braun electric razor for about the last 4-5 years and loved it.

This new Pulsonic is beyond words! It actually makes my old Braun (which I loved) look like a "child's razor."

My only complain about my new Pulsonic razor is that for the price I would have like a nice leather travel case (as with my previous Braun razor) to accompany my new razor as I travel a lot.

The AWESOME Pulsonic 9595!!

I have to admit, when I bought my first top of the line cordless shaver, I was not impressed. Now years later it broke and I hesitated to buy a new one. Waking up at 4:30 AM to shave with a conventional razor to go to work really drove me crazy again. I decided to do some extensive research this time to find the BEST shaver.

Braun seemed to be the highest rated shaver in all categories. So dispite the price, I bought the Pulsonic 9595. Went home, plugged it in. After it charged, I gave it the test on my 3 day old beard. (My 12 hour beard is like most 3-4 day) All I can say is OH MY GOD!! This thing is great! I barely felt it on my face. I did not think it was loud like some reviews and It cut like a conventional razor on mostly the first pass.

I am going to tell every guy I know that this is the Ferrari of cordless shavers! I guess to sum it all up, this thing is AWESOME!  A true example of You Get What You Pay For…..Well Done Braun!

Pulsonic Shave

I have always been somewhat skeptical of electric razors and every few years try one to see if I can get anywhere near the quality of shave I get with a wet shaving razor. My first shave with the Pulsonic blew me away. Not only is the whole shave closer, but I am able to shave under my chin and around my neck. I charged up the Pulsonic and took it on a week long vacation in North Carolina. I did not touch my wet shave razor the entire trip…I am converted.

Pulsonic Results

The difference vs my previous electric shaver is amaizing. Pulsonic is much closer and with less irritation. I still need a couple of strokes on the neck area but overall I am surprised with the results.
